Shakti Community Council Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the well-being of migrants and refugees from Asian, Middle Eastern and African backgrounds. Led by ethnic women for ethnic women, we offer culturally-specialist family violence intervention social services, and work to enhance social justice, building stronger ethnic communities

We are looking for volunteers to work with our Women’s Advocates who work passionately with women and children victims of domestic violence from Asian, African and Middle Eastern communities.
Responsibilities include:
• Administration work related to client service delivery and office management
• Work with ethnic women to promote awareness of domestic violence
• Supporting with Advocating clients with various government departments including police and courts and ensure that clients receive adequate support for her case
• Organize and participate in local fundraising activities

Skills needed:
• Basic data-entry knowledge
• Excellent in spoken and written English language skills
• Fluent in at least one Asian, Middle Eastern or African language (A must)
• Having an understanding of working in a cross cultural environment
• Passionate about working with women and children and ensuring their safety, and promoting social equality
